Battrick - Batracer-like cricket game

Cool, I'm sure you'll enjoy it
I'm winding up my first full season, and have made some horrific errors, but am going to end in 2nd place, which is quite alright by me - going up a division would mean higher levels of competition which I cannot possibly live with given my current fianncial woes - no new players can be bought, for instance...
If I can impart any knowledge to help you at least avoid the basic errors I made when I started, just shout ;-)

Oh boy, yeah, some tips would be good. I've got BATRacer figured, but this is new!

ok...
When you train your players (Club -> Nets), always set it to 100%, anything else will not give you nearly enough benefit from the sessions.
Do not hire & fire coaching staff unneccesarily, they demand 1 week's wages each time you fire them. Planning of coaching is quite crucial.
Do not expand your ground initially. When you do, there is an optimal ratio of the types of seats and their numbers. Something like 44/40/11/6 or thereabouts. You can find more in the sledging boards (fora for questions, tips, etc) and the links page.
The transfer market is the best place for new talent at the moment. Try to get Stam/Bat competent/competent or mediocre/mediocre (and combinations thereof). Also Stam/Bowl, the same deal. Anything less than that and you'll take too long to get them trained up to reasonable levels. Good concentration and consistency helps too (concentration more for batsmen, conisitency more for bowlers)
Don't invest in your youth academy just yet. It's astronomically expensive. This was my big mistake! Don't buy any ITS points before having a reasonable academy either, it would be a waste right now.
Choose bowlers for the pitch conditions, and set them to bowl to exploit the conditions best. Set to defensive on flat pitches, or attacking on green or uneven pitches. If the team you're playing has one or 2 good batsmen though, it might be worth just trying hard in the first 15 overs to get those 2 players out and then the rest of the team can be kept quiet with defensive bowling. The reverse is also true - don't go attacking at all if you think he has monster batsmen all the way down the order - getting early wickets is not likely to help your cause much then at all...
Play as many friendlies as you can. The results count for nowt, but it gives your players valuable match time and provides you with opportunities to play around with orders, tactics and so on. The extra litle cash you get from a friedly doesn't hurt either.
only 17 and 18 year olds are really worth training, so bear that in mind when buying new talent or working out what nets to give.
There is no point in having more than 10 bat/bowl/fitness/fielding or keeping coaches in total as you can only assign 10 net sessions per week. Have 3-5 sports psychologists initially, they will help your players' concentration and consistency ratings improve passively with every non-fitness net.
That's about all I can think of off the top of my head, but it's a great game and I'm totally hoooked. Match days are the best, your matches have ball-by-ball commentary pretty much like Cricinfo - it's exceptionally well done.
Have fun
