Dunno whats wrong. Just ring microsoft.

They will run through a few things on the phone, and then if there is a problem they will send through a parcel to send it away. if it is to be replaced they will send a new one which you will have within 2-3 days.

Tim.

and you'll more than likely lose all your saved games and have to start them all from scratch again.

because other people have just been given a direct replacement by MS, so they've had a completely brand new machine.

Another reason to go for the PS3 over the 360

I'm getting an increased occurrance of the "this disc is unreadable, please clean with a soft cloth and restart your machine..." error, p*ssing me off no end.

Happened first on Oblivion (quite regular, dammit), so I thought it was just the disc, but it since happens on Over G Fighters and Lord of th Rings: BFME2.

Either I've bought three duff games in a row, or there's something amiss with the disc drive/laser. Doesn't happen at all on PGR, CoD2 or GRAW (the only other games I play regularly).

Still, it's under warranty at least, and if it needs to go back, I'll be keeping hold of the hard-drive!

Mine did this, they sorted it in 3 days including posting time. Thought they were very good! Dont send the hard drive as they wipe it. They will post you a label to send it with.

Mine too. You can get the mail label emailed to you. They pick it up, they fix, they send back.

Like anything, it's not infallable. Being an early adopter of technology means you have to be prepared for some teething troubles. I was very impressed with MS response when mine went.

Clues were 'insert an XBox disk' and the lockout codes.

Don't suppose you have or can beg / steal / borrow another cable to attach the 360 to your TV?

Just you said the colours were screwed up before it broke and I know that you get red lights on the front of the box when you turn it on if you don't have a TV cable connected at all. Might be less hassle if its just the cable that's buggered rather than the whole console and should be pretty easy to check too

Was that using 2 different video cables?

The cable itself tells the 360 what capabilities it has on startup somehow, if you don't plug one in at all you get the red lights on the front and the console then does nothing. If you've got a VGA cable to connect it to your PC's monitor and some other cable for your TV then it does sound like the console is knackered though.
