...oh, the joy of rediscovering classic games.

I'm pretty sure I would be doing a lot better for myself had I put more effort into passing those GCSEs, than trying to complete "The Secret of Monkey Island" way back in 1992 - I think!

Reminiscing about the old days – and what could have been – I found myself doing a little search on the internet, and those of you interested in re-living the days of Lucas Arts classic point-n-click masterpieces should take a look at www.scummvm.org

It’s a fantastic tool that allows you to play such all-time great games as Monkey Island (and its sequels), Day of the Tentacle, Indiana Jones…even Beneath a Steel Sky…on Windows XP.

I found the “The Secret of Monkey Island”, and other games, available for free-download on fileplanet, so I presume that Lucas Arts – or whoever - have approved these titles for legal download…

Anyway, thought this might be of interest to some of you.

I have the port for my GP2X but I've not got round to putting it on yet Looking forward to the fiendish puzzles that were in Monkey Island. I think 15 years or so is long enough to forget most of the answers

I freely admit that I struggled on a few puzzles (which probably stumped me way back when) - especially in Monkey Island 2!

Fortunately, even after all this time, there are a lot of fan based web sites out there that offer some good hints...

It's very sad that the Graphic Adventure has gone out of fashion.

'Day Of The Tentacle' and 'The Dig' were the two most memorable, but I played plenty of others too including all the Monkey Island games, although they did go steadily downhill with each sequel.

I never played Monkey Island first time around, but played through 1, 2 and 3 last year (in bed with my girlfriend paperbag), and have to say they're great!

Still enjoyable today.

I bought 3 and 4 (the cartoony-drawn one, and the 3D one) off amazon dead cheap, and we're part way through 4 now. 3 is maybe the best.

As a bonus you don't need a good pc to play it - stick it on an old laptop and play anywhere!

4 (the 3D one) is a bit pants in my opinion. I never bothered finishing it in the end.
