Anybody good with early 80's arcade games? Found a few old favourites using MAME and ROMs but there's one I can't remember the name of. If I try to describe it, maybe it will sound familiar.

Basically a shoot em up set in space (weren't they all) in which you started off with a small 'ship' firing a twin laser/gun/shooter at aliens which were similar to Galaxians. After a level or two of this, you had to land and dock this small ship on a slightly bigger part of a spaceship that also had two laser/gun/shooter type things. So you now had four laser/gun/shooters to save the universe with. If you were wiped out, you'd start the level again, but with the basic small ship. If you survived another level or two, you had to dock the ship with a third part and another two laser/gun/shooter things. So, all being well, you now had six guns to hit them with. After that, it was just a case of getting through the levels.

I thought it was Space Firebird, but having played this for a while it would appear not - unless I'm not getting through enough levels to get to the docking bit? Also checked a few other Space names but none fit the bill.

Anybody have a clue what I'm on about? Cheers.
