Help: I’ve broken my rFactor :(
Discussion
Well the F1 2005 mod to be precise. When I installed the MoD I had not made use of the ISI_BABYFACTORY help function so I only had access to the Minardi. This worked fine offline and online.
I then used the above mentioned help function and now when I select vehicles from the main screen I have all the F1 cars and the option to buy is greyed out. The problem is that when I try and play on-line, with for example the BAR already selected from the Vehicles screen. After selecting the server and you are presented with the choose your car screen of those available. As this is loaded I get returned to the desktop and informed that:
error loading mesh file: /CTDP/BAR01_???_???.???
in a windows popup. If I click ok it returns me to the game and the (post server choice) vehicle selection screen, however the BAR will not be displayed in the background and the vehicle list only lists the Minardi’s. If I try and select a Minardi I get returned to the desktop with
error loading mesh file: /CTDP/MIN01_???_???.???”
again I can press ok and return to the game, once back there I can select load track but I get kicked. The same thing happens offline only my car is invisible. I also had a similar problem with a different error message saying it couldn’t find a /CTDP/TYRE.??? Which I fixed by copying the contents of the /CTDP/CTDP/ directory to /CTDP/.
Anyone have any ideas? I’ve tried uninstalling the mod and reinstalling it but to no avail
Any help appreciated.
PS not sure of the exact error messages as this is from memory

No idea I'm afraid, have you checked here? - http://forum.rscnet.org/forumdisplay.
Edited to add - http://forum.rscnet.org/showthread.ph - "Do not use the Al tracks all cars option for F1 2005"
And - Read the Readme! "all cars & all tracks" mode is NOT supported. - http://forum.rscnet.org/showthread.ph
Does that fix it?

And instead of using that anyway, just edit the CCH files in your userdater/"your name" folder by giving yourself more money and experience points.

Thanks FWD, I uninstalled F12005 and reinstalled it selected only the 2005F1 mod and it works
Next issue
, does anyone else find the McLaren F1 mod really slow? The 79 F1 mod, 2005 F1 mod and all the standard cars run fine but I find the Maca F1s run at a much lower frame rate

Very low frame rate when other cars are on screen, compared with the other mods and the standard cars.
Where as on the grid at silverstone starting from the back with the F1 2005 mod the frame rate seemed fine, doing the same with the McLaren F1 2.0 mod was horrible. It was the same at Kyalami, where driving with other cars using the 79 mod was smooth, driving the McLaren F1 with even just a couple of cars on the same straight resulted in chug'o'vision
The frame rate counter was going between 25 and 60, which I really don't trust as Console games look fantastic at 50fps (GT4) where as anything less than about 70fps feel horrible on rFactor

What!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Only......! come on you only need 30fps for it to be perfectly playable, they eye sees everything above 25fps as fluid motion (cimema film projectors run at 25fps). I think I only have between 30-50fps MAX with the 79's and I have Auto FPS set at 30fps, if it drops below that it automaticall turns down details.
Plus don't forget GPL runs at a maximum of 35fps no more and I've never heard anyone complain about that

Well that's not really true
Cinemas actually run at just below 24fps but that is kind of irrelevant. Compared with video games, film and video capture motion (in the form of blur) which hides much of the problem with the low frame rate. However it is still a problem in cinema, simple pans can look very choppy and some CGI scenes judder very badly too. If you watch LotR in the Cinema you might have noticed the CGI vistas juddering badly in pans. Even films like Notting Hill can suffer obvious judder, there is a scene in the book shop where the camera pans across the bookshelves. Also most people can tell the difference between 30 and 60fps even on TV's. Another thing to keep in mind is that most console games (maybe PC too) capture inputs at much higher rates than they refrest the screen, which means even the most subtle of movements and timings of movements can have an effect on the screen action.
I'll shut up now
