I haven't got anything like that, My 360 is fine, lives on top of the tv, next to the sky+ box horizontally with a stack of dvd's on top and the thing never seems to get warm, I'm sure these things were just invented because of rumours started, And surely the thing will use more power creating more heat anyway!

For every post like yours, there is another where someones console has died though, it's gone way beyond "rumours".

I have never been interested in hearing how many peoples consoles work just fine.As soon as someone says they have a problem with a 360, people appear to let everyone know they have never had an issue even if they use it inside an oven on gas mark 6.
I prefer to know how many have died after a day or after a year and am curious to know why.
When you know the heatsinks inside get too hot to touch even when the machines are well ventilated and you know how many consoles have died, it doesn't hurt to air on the side of caution surely?
I'm not saying all these deaths are heat related of course, but it could be a contributory factor in some cases, who really knows.

Sorry for saying mine is fine.
And people will always post if they got a problem, and very rarely otherwise.
I'm very sceptic le about third party device, especially those that use the usb to power them.
The 360 has it's own fan, I think there were some issues with the very first batch that the thermal paste on the heatsink/cpu was dodgy, I've done over 3000miles on Testdrive, and that makes the 360 work bloody hard, and had no issues at all, perhaps the problem exists with mistreatment???

I didn't mean for that to sound quite so harsh :-)
I was just saying, no matter how many people post that they are on their 2nd or 3rd console etc and no matter how many peoples consoles give up the ghost be them old or brand new, someone is always on hand to say their 360 console is fine. That is nice to hear of course, but it doesn't alter the fact that many machines are going tits up.
Oddly enough, the very next thing suggested is often mistreatment even though that is not the case at all in most of these situations.
Well, unless you class pressing the power button to turn the console on and off or playing a game as mistreatment.

No need to apologise. It's always good to see a piece of Microsoft equipment actually doing what is expected of it and not rampaging around a network causing devastation behind it.
Although I think it's wrong to assume mistreatment as being a cause of faults. This is Microsoft and they will penny pinch to the extreme wherever possible. *shrug* But then so will Sony, Nintendo, Dell, *insert any other company here*.
