I mentioned this last night during the Caterham racing, and several PH'ers wanted some info.

Today is the 3rd running of the Virtual Le Mans 24hr, held every year in November, 36 cars are entered, but if the previous 2 years are anything to go by, around 10 will make it to the finish.

The race can be followed on Skypecast, a link will be posted here alter this morning www.wosec.co.uk/BASE/html/modules/ipboard/index.php?showtopic=215

WOSEC currently use Nascar 2003 + the Redline GTP mod as a racing platform, with this weekends race being the last one to use this before moving over to rFactor. They are still looking at which mod to use for next years racing but the favoured mod at moment is Enduracers http://forum.rscnet.org/forumdisplay. but it is still under development, so they are looking at other alternatives.

For the past 2 years, up to 10 races have been, with race distances ranging from 6 - a full 24hrs, this is all in realtime. Teams consist of at least 2 drivers and 1 car, but 2 or 3 car teams are common.

If you are interested in entering a PH team next year checkout www.wosec.co.uk, or if you would like to join my team www.wrracing.net.

Do all members of the team have to be round eachothers house, or is there some clever technological way to do a driver change? I.e. do you come in for a pitstop after your 90 minute stint and whilst fuel and tyres are changed, you somehow handover control of the car to your team mate sitting at his own PC at home?

If so - COOOOOOL I am in (for the daytime stints )

imagine racing for 23 hours and 42 minutes and then getting disconnected.

I have 4 drivers for today, 1 in Germany + 2 in USA, with N2k3 you disco out of the game when you are in the pits, and as long as the driver replacing you has the same player selected they then rejoin the race.

It looks like we will enter 2 cars and do 2 full fuel runs before swapping drivers, so approx 2hrs on 2hrs off, until either the car breaks, we break or we get to the end at 3pm tomorrow.

15hrs into the race only 13 of the original 32 starters are left in the field, my 17 car had computer problems and crashed on the final lap of the 1st double stint.

The 18 car is faring well, missing 1st gear for most of the race it is currently 7th, but closing on 6th at 10 secs a lap

20hrs into the race, and it is over. Our car was holding a solid 6th place, 14 laps down on the leader but only 2 from 5th, when it ended in spectacular fashion. Alone on the track the car turned into the Mulsanne corner then launched into the air barrel rolling, before landing outside the circuit.

Oh well there is always next year.

So was this a software glitch or had the driver fallen asleep?! Bad luck!

Looking at the replay, it's a software glitch, it looks like the car hit a not so soft course marker, that wasn't there on the previous 293 laps
