Nintendo Wii anyone?
Discussion
Will anyone else be getting a Nintendo Wii when it comes out or this Christmas? Looks totally insane. Having to actually move the controllers to play the games. Bloody fantastic! Just waiting for a lightsaber game to come out on it then it'll be the closest thing to being a real Jedi

It's not HD is it.
I used to be very caught up with the graphics and power game, but then bought a DS and realised ultimately how much more I enjoyed it over the PSP, and I have no doubt that I would enjoy a Wii a lot more over my 360.
You can only admire the visuals for so long. Once you get playing, it really doesn't matter what it looks like or what the resolution is. And if the most beautiful game in the world had crap gameplay, how long would you play it?
I think the power war is largely engineered by the big players who substitute brawn as selling points rather than true creativity and innovation. They are just reinventing what Nintendo gave us 15 years ago, but adding more buttons and more power. MS's Xbox Live and the PS2's ownership of physical rhythm gaming are both great features, but beyond that nothing is new.
Nintendo, on the other hand, even today are quietly soldiering on and ignoring the power game and concentrating instead on the beauty of gameplay and breaking ground in extraordinarily ingenious ways to create immersion without the aid of more polygons.
Nintendo is to Sony as Caterham is to Mercedes.
Make no mistake - I am a convert.
And don't knock it until you've tried it either! Just because the titles are children-friendly doesn't make them any less enjoyable.

My wife wants one for Christmas, where's the best place in UK to buy and how much should I expect to pay?
£179 which includes all you need to get started and one game, Wii Sports which will keep you happy for a few hours.
Games are £32ish from Amazon, Zelda looks like the pick of the bunch at the moment.
If you want to play two player then pick up a copy of Wii Play for £32 which includes another controller free and then a second "nunchuck" (basically an attachment to the controller) for around £15.
