Watch it and weep guys, the best just got even better - and we've got to wait till "late" 2007 for a UK release

Well, I've been a GT fan since the first on on the original playstation, and again (as with every new GT), graphically it's progressed phenomenally...

...but, will we still see rubber band races (artificially increasing the performance of your rivals should you lead the race) and non-existent AI?

Forza moved the genre on with excellent AI and damage modelling that had an impact on the car's performance - Polyphony simply has to do like wise for me to warrant a PS3 and GT-whatever-it's-gonna-be-called...

I agree with mr2aw11.

Forza moved the genera on leaps and bounds and really is the bench mark for me. With Forza 2 on the horizon (Q1 2007) - and the inclusions of Lambos (Woo) - i recon it will be a good fight.

PS: If GT3 HD actually makes its deadline I will eat a hat! No GT has ever arrived on time (froza is the same its been pushed back so many times).

Does PS3 GT have damage or semi-realistic collisions ?

http://origin.arstechnica.com/journal|GT:HD has been cancelled as a proper release, and will instead be a free download with the grand total of 10 cars and 1 track.

PD are going to try and concentrate on getting GT5 out in timely fashion instead. They claim 2008, but since those developers haven't been able to ship on time ever, I wouldn't expect it until 2009.

I used to be a huge fan of the GT franchise, but Forza just has better gameplay than GT4 - tyre physics is more realistic, the AI works, unlike GT4 where the cars just drive the same line and don't take any notice of anything else on track, and the online experience is there. Forza II is out early next year and should be excellent.

tyre and engine noises are still pants though - TDU has it nailed for a perfect rendition of a tyre-screeching, multi-cylindered aural cacophony...

Gran Turismo 4 for the PS2 was the most unrealistic rubbish game that claimed to be be a " driving sim" I have ever played. It was meant to be realistic but the gameplay was terrible, none of the cars had realistic handling, and the graphics themselves were dated. Four years after GT3 it was in development and it turned out to be a fraction different, more like GT3.5, I hope they sorted it for this one, I was really dissapointed with GT4.

Forza was much much better, and Forza 2 looks awesome.

In terms of graphics, Gran Turismo has it now, but pretty graphics fail to excite me in "sim" games.Games like Toca and Forza are way ahead everywhere else.

Oh and Test Drive Unlimited on the 360--- a buggy pile of crap with half arsed naff last gen graphics and a very boring game world- i expected much more from a console so powerful, developers are getting lazy these days.

Merry Xmas :-)
