Discussion
Not sure when the new stock of wii are coming in but should be before xmas hopefully! But chances are if you have not preordered you may not get one as i preordered mine about 4 months ago? and i still not recieved mine yet
but you maybe lucky!
But this morning (6.30am?) i saw a long queue outside toys r us it could be for the wii or could be just normal xmas shopping.

Just popped into Toys R Us in Reading today. Apparently they had fresh stock in at 8am this morning, and they were all sold out within 5 minutes! They were not expecting any more in before Christmas.
A mate of mine tipped me off last night that Toys R Us in Stoke were having a batch in this morning. We rolled up at just after 6am this morning and found that there were already 25 or so people ahead of us in the queue.
They handed out tickets to the first 50-odd people and told everyone to come back at 8am when the store opened. When we returned at around 07.50, the queue was more like 100 strong, the majority of whom did not have tickets. There were some unhappy mums in there looking for consoles for Little Johnny and couldn't grasp that they had all been allocated a good hour before the store even opened to the public.
The missus and I bagged one each
From what I gather, it's unlikely that there will be any more stock available this side of Christmas. Certainly none of the other big retailers seem to have any. You might strike it lucky with your local small independent places but, other than that, the only place you're going to get one is from Wiiiiiiiibay
Consoles on their own are going for anywhere between £300 and £350 (I saw one go for £450 this morning!!) - a mark up of 100%, near enough. And it's only going to get worse over the next few days as parents scrabble around to find one in time for Christmas. Whether you're willing to pay that much over the odds depends on how much you want one, I guess.
There is a rumour Game are expecting 2 deliveries of unreserved Wii stock this coming week.Just keep an eye on their website and a very good locator site is www.wii-consoles.co.uk I managed to blag one because I kept an eye on the websites and I struck lucky.Woolworths and Argos online are good bets to keep an eye on.GOOD LUCK

Speaking to a chap in Game today as I was hunting for a Nunchuk, he said that the store got 15 Wii's in yesterday and he was expecting more stock almost every day this week (not necessarily consoles every day) so it's well worth ringing your local store every day at around 11:30 or so when they get the stock in. He said he'd happily put a nunchuk aside for me if I asked him to, so no doubt they'd do the same with a console.

A bloke at work is selling one with an extra controller (nunchuck?) thing, Zelda and another game for £400
They're going for mad money. I sold one with Zelda for £360 on Saturday. The friend who tipped me off about the batch arriving stuck one on ebay and got £406 for just the console. The world has gone mad.....

You're a solicitor and drive a Porsche and deprived someone else of getting a Wii all to make £140 profit? Fallen on hard times?

Lawyer or Labourer, Porsche or Proton, it doesn't matter - it's just market forces. I certainly don't blame anyone for making a few quid out of it, if anything I've got less respect for the people who buy them at over-inflated prices than those who sell them.
No, I'd call it exploitation of an unfortunate situation. It's because of people like him that there is short supply, because now there's eleventy billion Wii's on Ebay. He got his Wii, he didn't need to buy a second. It's not as if he pre-ordered from multiple stores and ended up with two on release, he bought two with the intention of selling one on Ebay and that means whoever was 51st in the queue lost out. I'm pretty sure when he goes to the shop to buy anything else he doesn't buy two of each so he can flog one on Ebay.

It's an emotive subject, I know. FWIW, I do feel sorry for the poor parents running around trying to get hold of one for Little Johnny who positively must have one for Christmas. But charity begins at home
Blame the manufacturer for rationing deliveries to inflate demand, not those people who play the system to take advantage of that. You (or those parents looking for one) were just as capable as me of getting to Toys R Us at 6am on a Saturday morning to pick one up....

They haven't rationed them though have they? The Wii has had the most units for a console release, far more than the 360. As said, the issue becomes when greedy bastards buy them all up to stick them on Ebay. What I don't understand is these people who clearly already have money buying an extra unit to stick on ebay and make £100-£150. As I said, hard up at the moment? Because then I'd understand why you'd do it.

Come off it....if you had the chance to buy 2, knowing full well you'd double your money by flogging it, you would, wouldn't you?
Erm, if I'd wanted to do that I'd have pre-ordered as many as I possibly could and put them all on Ebay, wouldn't I? And I'd have done the same for the 360, and would do the same for the PS3. Except I don't because that's just contributing to the problem and I don't feel comfortable profiting from someone elses misfortune.
I'd be getting as many as I could if I could get my hands on them. Easy money just for being at the right place at the right time.
A lot of the people selling these are getting them direct from people who work at the stores.
Near where I work a National Supermarket sold 30 (with staff discount) to one person.....this a day before they were released. I only know this as someone I work with bought one, and the reciept comes with it.
......30 units, that cound be around £4500 profit! Yes I'd do it.
