Well, got the 360 on launch day and yesterday she finally blew

Playing any game, even sitting on the dashboard, it just runs for a few mins and then the screen freezes in a different colour each time, sometimes I am treated to a checkerboard effect !?!? NO RED LIGHTS ?!?!

Anyway, quite a funny conversation with support ensued....

Had the debarcle of all the swap testing they make you endure and then we got onto registering...

MS : Have you registered before ?
Me : No (thinking, oh sh1t, I did a password reset, did I register then ??)
MS : Ok, we will register you.
Me : Lets do it.
MS : When did you get the console ?
Me : (being honest) Last Christmas.
MS : NO WARRANTY.
Me : (panic) Did I say christmas, I meant January.
MS : So you got it in Jan now ?
Me : Yeah, I forgot, it was actually Jan so I still have warranty. (PMSL)

Finish Registration........

MS : Oh, you have registered before..
Me : (ar$e falls out on kitchen floor) Oh
MS : But don't worry, your warranty expires.............TOMORROW !!!
Me : (now doing my celebration dance) Woo Hoo !!!
MS : We will pick it up, fix it and send it back.

Hang up phone, think to self, I got it on the 2nd, surely my warranty expired then ??
Kick self, tell self to shut up, carry on smiling

Anway, I will be off for a bit guys, but will be back with a vengance soon

What an emotional roller coster rofl

As a word of caution, all I did differently yesterday was help a friend do a bit of boosting on RSV, I joined his lobby, did the elastic band on the controller thing and went out.

Whether the constant spinning upset the graphics card or not, I don't know ?

Could be coincidence, could have been fate, but be warned none the less

Did you get an email with the courier sticker? Did you read the instructions that said YOU have to call the courier to arrange pick-up?

I got my sticker the same day as my call to them, and then I simply phoned the number on the instructions and the package was picked up within an hour!

IMO, no you shouldn't. That way, if anything goes wrong, you can lie about when you got it to ensure it is within the years warranty

I did read that, however, the bloke on the phone told me they would just come and pick it up after he registered it on the system. I just thought it was the standard blurb and that it didn't apply to me as I was told they would come and pick it up

Had it been made clearer to me, as in NOT being told I had nothing else to do other than wait for it to be picked up, I would have called

I think you've got 10 dayds in which the sticker/courier is valid, so go back to your email and get the sticker link, print it off and call the courier to be sure!

Hmmm, in the past they would send you out a "coffin" to send it back to them in, but they have since only been sending out the sticker which leaves you do arrange for the collection yourself, easy way to find out - if your sticker has a tracking number or RMA number on it call either MS or the courier you've to use up and see if the tracking number is active yet, if not they've not started the process up and it's all in your court to do so...

I have called now, it has been picked up already.

7 days is the longest I have been without playing Xbox since I had the original one back in 2004

Just a FYI...I sent mine off on 21-Dec and received it back yesterday - although it wasn't actually 'mine' that arrived back, but something that looked brand new (i.e. not a mark on it anywhere), and it is much quieter than my original one.
