So what's hot and what's not for the Nintendo DS? My nine year old daughter will be getting one for her birthday but as I don't play games I don't have a clue which one's she'd like.

Nothing babyish, no 18 cert's either....

Super Mario Bros / Tetris / Animal Crossing.

They are great games as far as I'm concerned.

My daughter (10) has Nintendogs and Animal Crossing and if your daughter has a Tamagotchi there is a game for that too, Mario Bros, Rayman or Spyro are quite good games.

My own favourites: Mario Kart, "Daigasso! Band Brothers" and (though less of a game) Elecktroplankton. Also any of the "Warioware Touched!" type games - great fun.

Girlfriend loves Animal Crossing and Nintendogs/cats.

And for when she's gone to bed, get Advance Warsual Strike for you...

I was hooked on that gane for 2 weeks solid. In a hotel at the Ring, at 3am in the morning sat in the landing as the DS was charging... Class bit of programming.

I got a DS for Christmas and play Dr Kawawhatsit's Brain Train every day. It's quality. The best thing about it is it gets you to draw three pictures from memory and then compare yours with the other players. Absolutely comedy.

Not sure how impressed a 9 year-old would be though?

My missus swears by Nintendogs and the Sims 2. You also can't ever go wrong with the obligatory Super Mario Brothers.

Anyone played worms on the DS? Gets pretty poor reviews on amazon.

I'm not sure what to get between a DS and a PSP.
