OK the decision has been made and an Xbox 360 will be mine.

I need to be pointed in the direction of the best available deal for a 360.

Play/gamestation/game/virgin/hmv etc ???????

I am after the premium pack and will be also be looking to get GoW?

Will the 360 run original Xbox games? (FORZA?)
Also having read many posts about knackered 360’s should I expect my system to explode in 12 months time?

big bad ben

Excellent choice! I got mine from Gamestation - traded in a few things (PS2, Gamecube and all of my games yikes) and got a Premium Pack with PGR3, Pro Evo soccer 6, GOW, Forza and a second wireless controller for £150.

Gamestation have a deal on at the moment where you get the 360 Premium, second wireless controller, PGR3, Live Arcade (UNO, poker and some other games, I think), some wrestling game and any other game of your choice for about £310. Rumour has it you can trade the wrestling game in there and then for just over £20...

Yup, but some of the old Xbox games (like Flat Out) had important controls assigned to the black and white buttons on the old xbox controllers, and no way to change the configuration - watch out for this, because the new 360 controllers don't have these buttons! They're pretty spiffy though, being wireless and all.

Hmmm...if you expect it to happen, then you won't be disappointed when it does! I think that most of the problems were with the first batch of consoles, and I haven't had any trouble with mine (*touches wood*), but I've kept hold of my receipt just in case!

Don't forget to get Xbox Live for online chainsawing and more - I haven't had a chance to hook up with the PH Massive yet, but I'm looking forward to it, big time...

Well I have a good friend who is enjoying the online fun. I will certainly be interested in fighting online.

I also hope that there are some PH members who will be up for a nice long battle on Command and Conquer 3 when it is released in march.

The Premium 360 plus the Entertainment bundle was £269 from Play. The bundle is an extra wireless controller, PGR3, a scratch card for 1 months worth of Xbox Live Gold, and a load of XBL arcade games (Poker, etc). Seemed better value that just the premium plus a game for £280 deals.

I've just seen that they've put the price up £20 tho', so it's not as good a deal as it was. Still, the bundle is around elsewhere, so keep an eye out.
