I've seen both these games about, haven't watched gameplay of either but fancy them both. Which should I get?

I quite fancy the split screen ability of gears of war - is it good and does Lost Planet have one?

Gears. All day long. I completed the core of Lost in about 7 hours and haven't picked it up since. Gears has a great single player (albeit a little short), but online is class. Crude, but class.

I only played the Demo of Lost Planet, but gears of war is awesome, the amount of hours I have spent on it eclipses most the other games I have played.

the single player is reasonable, if a touch short (but then just do it again on a higher difficulty), but the user interface is wonderful, although not always perfect, I love the hide function, you can blind fire, or pop out and aim...

weapons are varied..

But the best bit is the online playing, especially in the PH room (admittedly the rooms as a whole have gone downhill recently - but nowhere as bad as GRAW), very, very addictive (last game anyone? just one more?) and loads of fun..

There's just something satisfying about putting a chainsaw through someone, or hiding around a corner and taking them out before they even know your there, or best of all, knowing they are hiding just around the corner, behind the bridge, and getting them with the chainsaw first!

Worth mentioning, for FPS i have played (*and completed) Prey*, CoD2*, GRAW as well as various demo's, and GoW is the best one i've played on the 360 yet.

Gear of War, every time. I like Lost Planet, but after a couple of days of playing it I found myself reaching for the Gears of War box...

If I hadn't played Gears of War before I got Lost Planet, then I would have been more than happy with LP, I'm sure. Perhaps I didn't give LP enough of a chance, but Gears of War is so good, you don't really need another shoot-em-up on the 360.

Well I've got GRAW and don't really like it in single player. Everything's rather scripted, it's not very "gameplay"-ey. Graphics are great and multiplayer's pretty good, but single player feels rather staid. I don't understand why it gets quite so much praise, and think perhaps console gamers are just different, and like it more simple? This is why I wonder if GOW might just be the same and I am hesitating.

I am used to my FPSs on PC...

I have played many FPS games on both console and PC, GRAW I will agree was fairly average on the whole, but Gears stands up there with the very best the PC can offer as one of the most intense and visceral games i've played to date.

GoW is so much better than GRAW - yes its scripted, you need to go through the game in a particular way, but its so much better..

And I'll sell you my copy of Lost Planet if you like. I've played it about 4 times.

It's going on eBay tomorrow - £1 start and 5% discount off the final price for PHers! smash

Well I bought gears of war as you all said I should! (I even went on PH from my phone while in the shop. sad.). It is indeed very good, although nothing revolutionary. Single player seems as good as half life 2, which is both good and bad I guess! The ability to play through the same campaign as single player or co-op and change partway through is VERY cool though. I play with my GF, then when she gets bored I can go on by myself for a bit, then she can come back in later.

Haven't played multiplayer yet. New house will be getting internet on Wednesday we hope....

Exactly the same here.

I'm thinking of trading it in at Game for something else, but if anyone would like to buy it off me instead then you're welcome to.
I think my wife said Game will give me £27 for it on trade-in so offers at or above that + postage please.

Sticker in my local game said £25 for trade in of GOW when I purchased it on Friday.

Thanks for the offers of selling it to me by the way, unfortunately I wanted it there and then! Still charged me £40 for a used copy. Other shops had it for £37-40 NEW :/!! I had a gift card though so had to use it.

Sorry mate, the CEX shop (careful, deano) nearby offered me £31 for it - it only cost me £35 in the first place, so it was a no-brainer. Besides, I think I just saved you the hassle of selling it on eBay yourself (although the metal tin did make quite a good doorstop).
