What worked for me on Insane was to stock up on Torque bow arrows and the lancer. As soon as the cutscene stops stay where you are and take cover behind the concrete wall you see them resting against in the cutscene, ignore whatever Dom does as he is useless. Fire off as many torque bow arrows as you can at Raam, when he gets close you want to stay at the far right of the concrete wall and blind fire at him any time the Kryll leave. If he stands near you then the Kryll will start taking off your health slowly, this is the time to throw a grenade nearby, close enough to remove the Kryll but far enough away so that it doesn't kill you (this will probably take a few throws to get it right) as soon as the Kryll leave then unload with the Lancer on blind fire. Eventually he'll die. Hardcore should be a lot easier than insane but this method worked for me on Insane so should work fine too on the lower levels.

I had major trouble with him on Hardcore too but eventually managed it on my own.

I used the Lancer and the Torque Bow.

Run for cover and hit him with the torque bow, when the Kryll fly away switch to the Lancer and hit him in the face. Repeat when the Kryll return.

When he gets close, blind throw your grenades at him, then run to the opposite side and repeat the torque bow/ lancer process.

One thing to note is that you can stock up on torque bow arrows - simply wait for the bow to respawn in the room where you start.

I'm currently trying to kill the Reavers with the chainguns on Insane difficulty - it is soooo hard, Raam is going to be a killer as well

Or alternatively just invite someone in to play with you in Co-op mode when you get to Raam. I did that on Insane and it only took us 4-5 attempts to kill him. I did it on Hardcore on my own and spent an hour or so at it before I finally got it right.

I had a PITA trying to get RAAM on casual...

Did it first time on Hardcore...

Simply loaded up with Torque bows - torque up blind fire, pop up and let go (need to be a half-decent shot) for all 12, then just unload the lancer blind fire.

When he gets to the slab your behind, (and heres where i went wrong in Casual), stay behind it until your sure he's coming around - its gives you plenty of time to blind fire shots into him.

Then leg it to the other end (I had 5 rounds left at this point) and i went up to the trokia, couple of seconds on the gun and he's finished

I'm having trouble with this.

The Torque bow doesn't seem to respawn. How long do you have to wait?

I've managed to hit him with all 6 arrows most of my 4 grenades and it seems to have had little effect.

Torque bow - Clears kryl - Snipe
Repeat.
When ammo depleated on Torque just shoot with something else, keep moving.

I thought it was quite easy compaired to some other parts in the game.

It's ridiculously easy on Co-op, I would join you to help you out, but I'm 10,000 miles away from my 360 for two weeks

he's protected by Kryll which fly around him so you have to disperse the Kryll to get a pop at him directly. If you have the Torquebow pop a couple at him until the Kryll disperse and then switch to Sniper rifle and get as many headshots into him before the Kryll get back to him (use the wall directly infront of you as you enter the open carriage setting as your new home for the first 2-3mins of this final sequence). If you get nailed, duck behind the wall until safe to come up and repeat the above sequence (remember Raam will move around - he basically will go from one side of the carriage to the other in space of first min or so and then slowly make his way up towards you), so by the time he's getting close to you you're no doubt bricking yourself and wondering how many times you have to hit him - lets just say standing up and unloading a few clips won't work, you have to lure him as close to the wall as possible, you can do the duck and hit fire trigger to shoot a number of rounds over the wall to give you a little bit of a chance, but when you feel he's just about to come round the end of the wall and kill you, make a run for it round the other side of the wall and down through the carriages - you're heading for the Troika next in the centre of the carriage waaaaaay down there...

Once you get to it you've a choice, you can either try going with the Troika (which makes you very vulnerable to some popshots of the Locust variety), or hopefully you're a decent enough aim with the sniper rifle that you didn't send 15 nice shiny shells into the countryside earlier on this sequence. I normally use the Troika nest as cover, come up the stairs a little and headshots with the Sniper rifle are again the peoples choice, unload a handful or so into him and you'll be treated to the endgame sequence of Raam dying.

Then get your butt back into the game on Hardcore setting and see that the game isn't as easy as you first thought when playing on Casual setting as everything now seems to have been on the steroids since you last encountered them, and if you really want to see how hard it gets have a pop at the insane version

If you get quick enough and good enough with the sniper you will soon be able to take him out before he even manages to come up to the wall you spawn in behind, it just takes a little practice and job done

I didn't have a torque bow with me. So I swapped my sniper rifle for a torque bow with 6 arrows.

Thanks for the offer; but I haven't as yet hooked my 360 up to the internet. What do you do, just plug in the cable that would normally lead to your computer?.

erm, i think its slightly more complicated than that.

I think it depends on how you connect to the internet, and what sort of router you have...

Ahhhhhhh, then you I guess you won't have paid for Xbox Live, which means no On-line play for you You'll have to invite someone over to your home to play Co-op

Thanks Baz. I have now completed it on hardcore.

Your technique worked the second time I tried it.

Now it is time to do it all again on Insane and see if this game is as tough as Halo

I can all but guarantee you won't get near the Troika on Insane, I managed it twice, purely through luck of avoiding the Kryll when he released them and finding cover when he started shooting, when I did manage to get to it he quickly managed to flank me and kill me. Takes a totally different approach on Insane.
