Hi everyone,

I'm off to the Ring next w/e so looking to refresh my memory as to its layout, thought a few laps round in GTL might help (although not the tourist track) & seeing as I have'nt raced any of you for simply ages do any of you fancy meeting up tonight for a few laps? if not then no probs, i'll pracy off line, but if yes then i think I can host for about 5 without to many probs but you know what it can be like rolleyes

Anyway, any suggestions on time cars etc

Be nice to speak to you all again

Nick

hi pv,

what game?

I have to go out at about 7:30 but I'm up for something before that.

can I suggest rfactor with the good version of the ring!

www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Nordschleife%20All%20Road

we'll need someone to sort the server out for us though!

how come pv?

we are about to start a league where we will use one mod and probably the default tracks... I think it will be good! the netcode is better and some of the mods are good (we just have to pick one and stick with it).

it'd be good to have you back.

think i'm a bit of a drifter at heart Mike and GTL is more forgiving with this driving style in mind, to be honest I cant stand Rfactor, to many mods to know what everyone was doing next & my PC did'nt cope with RF as well as GTL so all things considered.....

Thanks for the kind words though, i dont play that much anymore to be honest as I'm trying to get a years racing fund together (life dream)but when i do pick up GTL i think of what fun we used to have with that Ferrari League and the Maseratis in GTR, awwwww.... those were the days hehe

Hope the league is as good as past ones and you have some fun driving

Nick

They were, indeed, the days. Nowt like the Donny short track and constantly back and forth between positions to make me grin

Always remember the night when the best lap record just kept going down and down as people just got better and better - yet the racing stayed close

I had a great race the other day in a BMW CSL, up against Panteras, Capris, Porsche 911 and 906's and a few Escorts as well.

And they are a great blast round Toban.........oh hang on, that was in rFactor. No wonder we all got placed on the grid properly and none of us got disconnected

I'm sorry no, not my sort of thing. You'll just have to order your weird sexual perversions from elsewhere.

Mike - I have upgraded my GX card sice trying to run rfactor so might give it a go, if there were a get together round the Ring tonight that would be cool thumbup

My PC runs rFactor better than GTL so perhgaps it was your gfx settings? If its too slow, switch it to DX8.

some of the addon tracks can run a bit slow.

other thread pv?

The best mods to get are:

1979 www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Grand%20Prix%201979
porsche carrerra cup www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=PCC%202005%20Germany
caterhams www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Caterham
legends www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Legend%20Cars

of those the driftable ones are the caterhams and the legends, I think.

the best nordschleife (with lots of different configurations) is www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Nordschleife%20All%20Road

which I think even has some of the local roads around the nurburgring included in it???

I find many of the cars in rFactor handle pretty well, specially the Porsche 911s and Gallardos. I even managed to do my first lap of the 'ring in an R500 without crashing!
