Im a total newbie with Rfactor, downloaded the HRC mod, which is great, but how do I play now with the default cars? Is there not a mod manager like GEM for GPL? Have I overwritten everything? I probably didnt help myself downloaded from a French site! Help!

The MAS file hold GTM (3d model) data about the track if your getting an error in that then the download is at fault. (if the track has been installed correctly). The track must be in the locations folder in the correctly named folder. Some tracks uses a double layer of naming.
So you might get "locations-Essington" or you could have "locations-Suzuka-Suzuka" - used instead of the slash as it never seems to show up.
Install as per the structure of the Zip/RAR file from the locations folder down.
