I downloaded the demo last night and it saddens me to say that I was very dissapointed.

I know it is only a demo but compared to the demo for GTR2 it felt more arcade game than simulator.

I assume that the appeal of the game is in it's depth in terms of downloadable tracks and cars which certainly interests me but it didn't seem as dynamically accurate of invloving as GTR2.

I really want to like this game and maybe get involved in some on-line antics with some of you guys so I'm hoping this is just a bad demo that doesn't do the game justice.

What didn't you like?

Ok the demo cars are only basic ones apart from the F1 BMW Sauber.

I have to put this down to the demo cars being absolutely disgusting.

IMO, it is much better spent £20 on rFactor than the £40 I paid for GTL.
GTL was really, really great car-wise but was just too unstable. Plus this has infinite modding potential!

Dave.

I'm now wondering whether my opinion has been influenced by the menu's/music and the fact that the cars and tracks are not familiar to me. GTR2 just seems altogether more grown up and realistic.

It's difficult to put my finger on it but the cars also seemed a little detached from the road in rFactor.

Are any other demo's available for download? I want to give this game a fair crack of the whip as it has such a strong following and I want a slice of what you guys are getting from it!

No.

How are you controlling it, what are you using to drive the cars? I'm wondering if you have a force feedback wheel you haven't got the setting right. If you have a Logitech wheel you might need to reverse the FF effects.

It's funny a lot of people have said the physics in the GTR2 demo made it too easy.

I initally thought the same when i downloaded the demo (having previously been playing GTL), but as soon as I turned off the driver aids I realised how great it is.

Have you got the green rear wheel drive demo car (looks a bit like a previous shape mustang)?

That's the one. I'm going to give it another go tonight and decide if I'm going to buy it after plenty of laps and tinkering.

I bought GTL, RFactor & GTR last week after upgrading my PC. Of the 3, i'm loving GTL the most. RFactor is good though, and well worth a purchase due to its 'modability'. How do I find the Pistonheads server (If there is one?)

One thing I will say for rFactor is that it does run very smoothly, with good detail on my modestly specced PC.

The server is called Pistonheads

There is an Pistonheads rFactor league starting this Sunday with the Porsche Carrera Cup Mod bounce

Use of the server requires a one off donation, I think you need to message Neil to get access. I'm sure someone will be along in a minute to tell you how it works hehe

You need 2, v1150 & v1250, just click on any of the links for each .exe, the European servers may give you a better download speed.
