Bear with me please on this one, I am not the most technically minded of people as you will no doubt see....
Got an Xbox360 several weeks ago and would like to get online in the near future.
The question is how do I do it?
I have a broadband connection and modem for my desktop PC in a rear upstairs bedroom.
The main telephone wall socket downstairs in the lounge (near to the Xbox) which has some sort of adaptor(?) which came with my modem. Unfortunately, my PC and Xbox are at horizontal and vertical opposite sides of the house.
Running wires through the house is simply not an option.
Can anyone suggest the easiest, tidiest and most economical way of getting the Xbox online?

Buy a wireless router (cost approx £50-£80). Connect it between your modem and the PC.

Now buy a wireless adaptor for the 360 (cost approx £50-£60).

Hey presto!

Thanks for that! So the router goes in the bedroom where the PC/modem is and the wireless adaptor goes on the Xbox?

Yes, or a slightly cheaper method would be to plug the router into the phone point downstairs, connect the xbox to that with a cable and buy a wireless card for your PC (about £10 as opposed to £50-£60 for the xbox one)

Yeah, or like SteveEvil says move the modem downstairs, put the router between the modem and 360 and get a wireless card for your pc.

Good call, you won't notice lag on your pc unless you play games online but when I moved my 360 from wireless to wired it made a big difference.

Do you mean there was a noticeable difference in speed? Which was better- wired or wireless?

Wired is faster and generally more consistent, to my mind Wireless is voodoo magic.
