old racing sims...
Discussion
Now I am in need of a serious upgrade of my PC (maybe next year?)
So not a whole lot of options for my racing simulatiors besides gran turismo...and that's not too too realistic (yes, i turn drivers aids off) (you can't even do a doughnut?!)
so are there any decent older simulators (free, maybe)
specs of my PC
800 mhz clelron processor
64 mb of RAM
windows 98 SE
and i have the DFP (i doubt any old games will be able to use it though)

Grand Prix Legends? Should work nicely on that lot I'd have throught and still played on-line; you'll need to find a copy on ebay though.
nope...i'm downloading it as i type [it's a demo but w/e] (internet isacting funny though, the kilobytes per second rating is going up up up then down down down and it keep doing it, even if i just let it sit...strange)
p.s. LEAGALLY FROM
download.com
That would be the old game demo (12mb) not the full game. Might not even be the updated demo that you can get from Blackhole Motorsports here - www.bhmotorsports.com/GPL/downloads/3239 (86mb, uses all the updated GPLEA cars and Track graphics for Watking Glen that you get with it).
You can buy the full (but not updated) GPL game from here - www.sold-out.co.uk/soldout/products/gpl.html

Does anyone know how I could invite others to share GPL competition? I've been driving the Ring in GPL for years, and it is my only computer game vice. My research earlier this year suggested that there is no longer any 'Net based host that will accept multi-player, although some private groups appear to still support this.
Any contacts known that would accept a stranger (if well behaved?).

Have you checked the GPL forums at RSC - http://forum.rscnet.org/forumdisplay.php?f=36Any contacts known that would accept a stranger (if well behaved?).
And here - http://gplmz.bcsims.com/
The online software iGor still runs online networked multiplayer GPL racing and I thought VROC would still be too.
