well I was in a local game shop today had a chat with the nice guy behind the counter and he's just had his PS3 delivard.

I was not going to get one just yet but always seem to fall for the new toys when they come out. So I should have it tonight or tomorrow

fingers crossed

Also its my 30th next Saterday so was having some cash to spend in the US when on holiday the following week.

just a question. If I bought a UK PS3, when can I buy int he US that will work on the Uk machine?

cheers

In theory the games are not region encoded so should just work. Blu Ray is region encoded though.

With an imported ps3 you can
- Play eu ps3 games

You cannot
- watch eu region blutays, you'll have to import.
- play pal region ps2 games
- there will also be problems with oline regions, not completely sure myself.

Just don't import.

Theres quite a few BR movies out now with no region coding, though you take a gamble.

Also if you import one and use it in the UK its quite possible a firmare update will switch its BR region anyhow...

Mine arrives tmw! Getting it delivered to work (I figure less chance of being pi55ed about by delivery guy that way). Having to sit here waiting for the end of the day will be excrutiating!

laugh sorry... but you'll thank her in the long run. Back in the old days I failed ALL my O'levels the first time as I was playing 'The Hobbit' on my Speccy when my parents thought I was revising.

My parents locked my Amiga away after my brother grassed me up for playing Shadow of The Beast during GCSE revision.

Etch, serious question: Is it worth the money?

Honestly... I think £425 is a bit steep for a games console.
For a games console and a Blu-Ray player . . and a media hub . . and internet browser . . Its pretty good value.
It just depends if you wanted all those things in the first place.

I've no doubt I'm going to wring every penny or worth out of it over the next couple of years, so to me it was worth the money.

That was my justification too. I'm looking forward to it now!

Im in America at the mo- is it worth buyin one here, or to wait till I get back ? Ive got a 360 too and I probably wont be that bothered about having to buy region locked blu-ray. Are the games locked ?

Games aren't locked, but if you plan on getting online at all you're better off with a UK one as you'll need an American-based credit card to make any payments for an American machine.

thats wrong, its worth getting one. you can set up uk accounts on an american one also, its just een varified on one of the other forums i read. no point getting a uk one unless you like giving away your money. uses uk power without a step down, region free games, region free playstation shop only dvds and ps3 games have to be usa region...personaly i dont mind getting movies first and generaly cheaper do you?
