Weapons - where are they ? - apart from a shotgun and sub machine gun (no unlocks like BF2 or HL2)

Lack of tension and atmosphere - I remember being scared in FEAR

a one dimensional plot so far - stand off at a good distance and just keep firing until they are dead

or have I not played enough ?

Shortly after you get the AK, you'll crap yourself. Guaranteed. Not as scary as FEAR, but definitely a couple of moments where you'lll jump.

FEAR and DOOM 3 = Bucket under ass instead of seat time.

Didn't find Doom 3 scary to be honest... more annoying. "Ohh look another monster has spawned behind me without any warning it would do so." I have played one or two games that dragged me along with the story and scared the crap out of me... played one or two that made me cry as well (Homeworld, second mission where you jump back and it's all fubar... upset me).

F.E.A.R did scare me a lot. A HELL OF A LOT. And I only ever played the first few missions.

If you want to be scared, play Thief III. No big guns, no armour, no immense monsters, no stupid spawning. Just very very good level design.

I didn't bother playing it through for this very reason.

baah, I have to admit the same thing.
LOL
I got tired of jumping every 2 seconds but a good friend said it was well worth just playing through it.

Actually didnt get very far in FEAR either so I need to install both again, and MUST COMPLETE !!!!!!!
(after STALKER)
