Well for the first time in my life, I'm going to have a home-PC that's actually current (and pretty kickass at that!)
I'm into my racing games and since I've not had a decent PC before, what are the current good car-racing games to look out for? anythnig new on the horizon that racing gamers are waiting for? Can't wait until the new racing games come out using DirectX10... should be awesome

I think rfactor is commonly considered current pick of the bunch, and has a whole bunch of mods you can download for it too
GTR, GTR2 and GTL all have good rep as well, I have GTR but no steering wheel so can't really play it properly as its realistic enough that playing with keyboard is pretty hopeless.
As far as PC gaming wheels goes, the Logitech G25 is the daddy but will sting you about $500 in NZ, Logitech momo is still pretty good for $150ish though if they're still making it.

If you download rFactor you get a few demo cars to play around with, try the BMW Sauber F1 car with a full 22 car field adjusting the graphics settings to get a good idea of what it can handle, turn the AI down or they'll be past you in the first few corners too and just have a few mins of action. Remembering to have traction control on to properly simulate the cars.
Not sure what else you get in the demo, likely to be the front wheel drive mini-touring cars I think but there's loads to try out when you purchase the full product, downloadable from here - www.rfactorcentral.com/

Cool.. might have to have a play once I've got my new system set up.. Given that I've got a graphics card that's worth more than most people's entire systems, it'd make sense to use it eh?

Its really only worth playing these sims with a Logitech G25, the graphics card doesn't even need to be that great at the moment for them...but for the new crytek engine you'll be glad you bought an expensive card.
