I have played the demo of Crackdown on the cover disc of June OXM.

Is it worth £40?
or better to buy Forza2 and wait for Crackdown to go classic?

yeah, the full game is much better than the demo...

I'm planning on trading mine in very soon, so your welcome to it for the trade-in price + postage if you want to save a few bob?

Plus the new DLC is great fun. Harpooning people to moving cars will never get old.

whats that Ian?

an update or something?

Rob and I had great fun piling up loads of cars/objects in one huge pile, lobbing on a bunch of explosives, and then with rocket launchers seeing how big we could make the explosion! hehe

There is an update, but there are two new content packs to download, one is free, the other is 800 points. Details on the link below. I got both, but if you want to try the 800 one before you buy, join me in a co-op game, 'cos it lets both of you play even if only one has it.

Oh that sounds good. I'm starting to get really pissed off at Microsoft charging all this dosh for DLC.

I see it gives you an armoured car. Does it change as you level up like the other agency vehicles? What are the new weapons like? Any other noticable changes?

Dunno on the cars - I've only had about half an hour on it, and I went straight for God mode, maxed out my skills and ran around spawning explosive barrels. I was just dossing around, but the harpoon amd the lobber seem like good additions. I love the sniper scope on the harpoon.

the new download is immense, just extended this games life by a large margin!, I was harpooning around 5 people to a truck then crashing in to everything with lifeless bodies flying everywhere!

thoroughly entertaining

Just been playing this again last night and it got me thinking, maybe I'm quite sick but I find the following worryingly entertaining...

Steal the big coach with keys to the city on and harpoon gun equipped, park coach kill a few civvys or police/gang members of your choice, harpoon about 5/6 of them to the sides of your new coach...jump back in and proceed at full speed down the pavement dragging the harpooned people along whilst mowing down as many civvys as possible looking at rear view!

Pretty worrying really...I better stay away from the bus depot on the way home tonight!

re-discovered this game today, and downloaded the DLC - i've been playing driving games non stop for several months so neeeded a break. So much random fun. If you see me online just give me a nudge for co-op, i'm currently orb hunting which will take a few hours no doubt

I played this solidly in co-op mode for a month or so. Brilliant. I got the DLC just before Forza came out, then promptly dropped it. I ended up trading it without touching the DLC content. I guess I could pick it up for buttons now, and the DLC content will still be registered to my box. The "nail people to passing cars" gun looked cool.

Crackdown is out on budget now - looks good value at about 15quid.

Thats damn good value, Crackdown is on a par with grand theft auto for endless hours you can burn in a living breathing city

Got it for £13 second hand which was a bargain. only bought it because it said it was co-op multiplayer though which I assume meant on one console but no. It's not split screen 2 on 1 console play frown.

Played it a couple of hours, don't really like it? Just another open-world type game and can't understand what the fuss is all about? Is it because these sorts of free roaming 3d world games are quite new to xbox (they've been around on PC for years so perhaps have lost the novelty for me)?

i can understand why some people wont like it, it took me a while to get used to it. I think the game really struck me when i played co-op in the demo. Its just endless fun with no real point if you want it to be, a virtual reality is no understatement. If you want to try co-op some time then give me a nudge smile

I had many a good times with PaulD996RS on this. Theres so much random pointless shit you can do its hilarious.

My favourite was piling as many cars as you could before they started dissapearing, then as many explosive barrels as possible. Then both shoot. biggrin

Yeah, feels dead in single player. In co-op, wicked fun. Especially finding imaginative ways to annoy your buddy. Screwing up Scuppers attempt to get the tower achievements comes to mind.

Forgot to say, it absolutely has to be played on the hardest level from the outset. Anything less is no challenge whatsoever.
