You don't need the GTL disc for this to install.
But you do need the GTL disc for the "Power & Glory" mod to install for GTR2 which is you haven't tried it is a Simbin approved mod of the GTL cars for GTR2 using all new and more authentic physics. Currently a demo version out with some Porsches that actually handle and drive like 1976 Porsche RSR's.

Oops i got a bit confused there 
Actually it's been about for a day or two, i forgot to post..sorry!
I did have some sounds missing on a few cars so had to grab some small file and the
sound addon to get them all working (well i say all, not tried the entire field yet)
but the ones that didn't have sound now work.
