It is a nightmare, I too couldn't kill the T-Rex using the very ill thought out and useless 'bullit time' crap. (PC version using an XBox 360 controller).

I sought out, and downloaded a 'trainer', so that I could turn on 'one hit kills' and unlimited oxygen, which now fixes, for me at least, the two worst aspects of the game (swimming is way too convoluted, as is the combat)

Also, I have given up for now, I am stuck on one of the Egypt levels, where I'm required to wall crawl/monkey swing Lara across a cavern, and them jump to reach the ledge on the other side - trouble is, the camera angle (movement, for those who don't know, is dictated by which way the camera is pointing, and NOT, as one would expect, which way you turn the analogue stick for movement!) moves when I am about to jump, and fall to my/her death, EVERY TIME! Because there is no rhyme or reason as to how the camera angle changes, it is nigh on impossible to learn from mistakes!

Other than that, it's a good game, but I still prefer the original.

it's one of the trainers shown, not sure which one, I ended up downloading all of them. The way they work is thus;

Start the game, and then minimise it and run the trainer program. You can then activate some of the 'cheats' smile

Ahh, in that case, I'm not sure - I assumed you had the PC version. Well, I beat the T-Rex before finding the trainers/cheats. They way I beat it was getting stuck behind a rock (due to the awful collision detection!), and shooting for about 20 minutes until it was dead.

If you think the T-Rex is hard to beat, wait until you get a bit further. The forum's 'spoiler' function seems not to be working, so I'll leave it at that for now.

There's a good visual walkthrough guide here if you need some pointers but don't want to cheat.

On the old Saturn version I just edged forward until it appeared, the ran back to the entrance of the area, where he can't get to you because it is too enclosed, took pot shots at him from there until he wandered off, then edged back in to bait him back and ran back to my hidey-hole again, can't guarantee it will work on the remake, but worth a try.

Do you mean the Centaurs? Nightmare - one shot kills, saves a lot of wasted time and frustration for those of us who bought the game to explore, and certainly not to endure 'Boss battles', honestly, I thought 'Bosses' were the preserve of the SNES and Mega Drive generation!

Yes - that's what I was referring to. Pretty frustrating for the first couple of attempts, but once you work out (or look up) the appropriate strategy, it's a fun sequence.

I must agree that I'm not a great fan of 'boss battles' generally as they tend to suggest laziness in game design and lack of imagination in most cases. However, I think that in TRA these, plus the interactive cutscenes, work well to break up the exploring and puzzles.

I'm about 10 hours in, and working through the Egypt levels at the moment.

I wouldn't expect boss battles to disappear anytime soon, look at how popular Shadow of the Colossus was (which was purely massive boss battles) and how damn good God of War is, which again has enormous boss battles throughout.
