Region free dvd thingymaboby for X360?

When I had my PS2 I had an action replay cheats which allowed foreign DVDs to be played on it, thus getting around the regional restrictions emposed upon the console. I still have these DVDs, but obviously now have the 360, is there anything similar that would allow the region restriction to be bypassed for films?

You can pickup a multi-region DVD player for about £20 these days, and as there doesn't seem to be anything similar for the Xbox I'd say that a cheap player would be your best bet.

Ah right thanks for that Steve. Didn't really want to have a whole extra box though as I don't have the space. I suppose it would be cheaper to just rebuy the DVDs.

Only wanted something like that as sometimes the foreign DVDs have better features and run slightly longer.

You could get it chipped that would allow you to run them, but Microsoft are pretty good at detecting modified boxes and you run the risk of getting your live account banned.

Other option would be to rip the DVD's to your PC and watch them on the xbox.

Yeah I'm not going to bother going down the chipping route.


Can I stream it through an RJ45 cable? IE connecting the pc and xbox together with that cable. Wouldn't see any other way to do it.

You can do if you rip them to WMV files don't know about mp4s though. Alternatively you can use tversity (i think) haven't used it but have heard good things about it.

Funnily enough I got TVersity up and running last night. It works but takes some messing around. Look for a tutorial on digitaldigest because until I reinstalled the codecs with there settings it wouldnt work. It streams divx and xvid.
