Saw a link for Travian on the SKY website. Looks like an on-line kind of World builder game, ala age of empiresn type trading?
Anyone tried it?

Sorry, didn't see your reply. World 18 and 24. Waiting to be forcefully removed from World 18, though.

The problem is that you can choose the wrong tribe to be in and it's pretty much game over from the start. Wrong is when they don't/can't work as a team and have no idea about strategy.

It is vital to make sure you are in an active tribe, and looking longer term you need to have a strong network of friends.

The vital aspect to Tribalwars though is time spent on-line, if you have regular access to the internet then you will do well.

I am on W22, W24 and W27 now.

I did try Travian - but did not like it after Tribalwars.

I know that!! I'm on all the time. It's the feckless members of my tribe who only play once a week or are too busy worrying about defences that means the tribes slowly gets eaten alive.

we just had a massively well organised attack on another tribe in W24 - everyone was given a land time and about 60% of the tribe hit it - the first week of the war we won 98 village captures to zero!

Yeah, couldn't get into it. Was just like any other role playing game. Get 5 of these and bring them here, take 3 of these and go there, kill 8 of those, speak to him/her/it, bring me 4 of these, kill 6 of those and take their stuff to here.

I did try it - but it did seem a bit slow, I think also when I started on TW the kids already knew the game so were able to help me get started!
