Really considering getting one of these for a number of reasons (got to spend the vouchers we got for wedding pressies somehow.) With the new video phone capabilities anounced among other things it seems like a nice distraction to have at the drag strip when it rains. Just like to know your thoughts on it, whats the control nubbin like? how good is the screen etc.

I've had one since near release too. They're great little consoles, loads of great games, and with a bigger memory stick, you can have mp3s and movies on them too. plus, wireless internet.

the adults DS.

Screen is fantastic

Controls are ok, but not good for long gameplay. They should have swapped the position of the 2 controllers

Battery is ok, about 3-6 hours depending on use. Memory cards are cheaper now.

There is a slightly slimmer version on the way, with video out capability...

This is true. The analogue stick is in a bit of a silly place. It bothers me after a couple of hours.

I've only ever used mine as a personal video player and casual internet browser, to be honest.

But the screen is brilliant and it performed very well in the aforementioned two roles. I don't need those roles any more though so my son uses it now.

I've used mine for just about everything - from Video to games to t'interweb (not music though, iPod does that). It's really good.

Get yourself a copy of WipEout Pure and a good set of headphones and you're away!

I had one a year or so ago and took it back but have just bought a 2nd hand one and 2 games for £114 from Gamestation. I flashed it with a custom firmware and can now use GameBoy Advance, N64 and Super Nintendo ROMS!!!! biggrin (All owned by me of course)

Sky are going to be putting programs on the PSP soon as well.

Just got an Amiga emulator as well and can now play Sensible Soccer!!!!!! biggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrin

I love my psp. I dont use it to its fullest as i never hook it up to the net for podcasting and stuff. BUT i love it for games and movies. Movies were what i bought it for, and now memory is so cheap its great to carry 10 films about on a few sticks smile Gonna move my Movie watching to Archos now, so nice to see the gps add on, that is very cool!!!

Is the Archos screen as good as the PSP's then? I never cease to be blown away by how good the PSP's is.

I think the PSP is a good bit of kit, but only really use mine for playing video. I find the games very boring.

My DS gets much more use and overall it is the better of the two for game play (IMO, though also lots of others' opinions given that it far outsells the PSP)
