PSP Help needed - memory card formatting
Discussion
Hi,
I bought a new PSP Lite for the other half and she has been playing star wars lego but not having a memory card until this morning she's managed to clock up a fair few hours play without saving.
8GB Sony Branded new memory card came in the post, she popped it in the PSP and went to save the game but the PSP said she needed a card with more memory on it so I reckon it needs formatting.
Now, is there a way she can do this on the PSP without losing the running game data? Or is there a way of formatting it to the correct file system format on our Windows PC, I have zero experience with Sony kit so any help much appreciated.
Cheers
GD

Should be able to format from the menus - however I think only very recent firmware supports 8gig sticks, you may need an upgrade.
But can you do that without losing the game that's running? Like I said she has played about 5 hours on the thing so probably doesn't want to lose that and before anybody says anything i'll say two thingsWoman Patience

Connect the PSP to the PC with the USB lead, the PC will see the 2 different drives.
Right-click the 8GB one and click format.
Might be worth a go. Alternately check the various PSP forums for help.
Cheers, I've found out that the PSP uses MS FAT and when it formats it creates a distinct directory structure, I'm hoping that if I emulate that on my PC and pop it in then it'll be fine and we can save the game Right-click the 8GB one and click format.
