recently took my 360 to a couple of mates houses and tried to change the switch to hd, at both houses I could hear the sound but no picture, I was using the scart lead ?
so how does one use hd then ?

Scart won't give you a HD picture, maybe you're confusing the console. You need to use Component cables (the blue, green, red etc that are all on the same cable strand together, not to be confused with the composite cables that are just yellow, red and white) in order to get a HD signal, that or a VGA cable and additional sound sources, or if it's a really new XBox then you can use a HDMI cable.

Unless I'm not reading it right, but it doesn't really make much sense to me.

right I have the original scart lead, at the console end there is a switch that says tv or hd.
at the other end is a scart connector and some other wires
so what goes where and do I need to change the settings in 360 settings page?
thanx !

remove the scart connector from the TV connector - you now have 6 component connectors.

Connect the 3 HD video components into the appropriate sockets, and the two audio into theirs, of course, leaving the single standard video lead unconnected.

voila. HD.

No component input - you'll need HDMI then wink
