GT4 - Driving Missions
Discussion
Before my I put my gaming days behind me, and retire the PS2, I would like to get Gan Turismo 4 completely boxed off. The problem is I can't succeed at one of the driving missions. It's one of the Slip Stream Battles, the one with the Skyline. No matter what I do i just just can't catch the lead car. I've tried using the slip stream to 'slingshot' into second place but i run out of steam and slow down before I catch the leader. I've also tried pushing (bump draughting?) another car around which gets me abit closer but not close enough.
Any tips?

IIRC (it was a long time ago) for that you need to draft the 2nd car for a fair while, then pull out, but as soon as you get infront, pull back in - effectivley making him draft you - pull out of the way before he hits you and draft him again.
If you do that 2 or 3 times you should get close enough to the lead car to draft it.

Apart from the final Mission 34 I also found this one the hardest to do.If you do that 2 or 3 times you should get close enough to the lead car to draft it.
As Fidgits said it's all about working together with the second car to catch the leader.

the key is just to take it easy in the sections you know you make mistakes, and push harder in the ones your good at (if they have a little extra room)
It's a marathon not a sprint. First things first, are you actually quick enough round the ring? Go and practice with the standard SLR on the ring (free run / race meeting), I think that you need to get round in about 7m 6 secs to be close to what you need in the time trial (due to the flying start in practice, and the head start you give away).
This 7:06 has to be clean though, as you get penalised in the mission for bumping walls etc
The SLR isn't a great car - but it does slide the back out nicely if you lift off and then give it some beans, which can help you round corners more quickly - but be careful not to do it on chicanes, as it screws your lines. Slow in, fast out...it's nothing new, but it is definitely helpful in this case.
