360/tv problem help !

I have a sony lcd klv30-hr3 which i bought ages ago, just before hd (doh!)
i usually have the xbox running on 50hz so I try to play my new cod4 and the xbox stated that it has to be played in 60hz, when I change it to 60 on the xbox the graphics look blurred even though on the tv it says 50/60hz
tried plugging the other (green) lead in and the picture is fine apart from it being black and white aaaaaaaggggggggggghhhh!!!! there are no settings on the tv I can find.
Im getting sick of people kicking the shit out of me on cod because they can see me first.
any help would be appreciated ( yes if I had the cash I'd go and get a new tv)
