just been thinking about this one, what do you think are the best/ most amazing/ funniest cheats on a game.

I seem to remember the 1st TOCA touring cars having a few like turning the cars into tanks an blowing the other ones up especially good with low gravity tankbounce did make the handling a bit edgy though

The one that always sticks in my mind is the old Sonic the hedgehog level select cheat, Up down left right A & Start.

Or if you wanted to edit the levels as well Up C Down C Left C Right C A & Start.

No games seem to have cheats anymore, which is a shame as sometimes after finishing them it was a giggle to just play through with massive guns and unlimited ammo etc purely for fun!

I've been thinking about this and I think I've found one that beats the Street Fighter one...

Back in the day when games came on tape for the ZX48k. You could fast forward to the appropriate level on the tape and play that and voila! You got to the last level! biggrin

there was a game on the amiga called sleepwalker. It had voice overs from Lenny Henry and was sold for comic relief.

You, as the dog (obviously), had to guide a sleep walking kid through the platform type level. Pretty unique game actually.

Anyway, you could give the kid invincibility by typing "dingadingdangmydangalonglinglong" during the intro.

Best cheat type-in phrase thing ever.

not sure what the actual cheat code is...

but, the cheat in half-life two where you can get penguins to chase enemies (or you) that you deploy, and then explode, was pretty good

Apart from the obvious Big Head modes and all that, one of the first cheats i remember
was on space invaders on the Atari VCS back in the late 70's
Iirc, you held down the reset button, then turned on the "machine" (can we call it a console?!)
and you had double bullets firing up the screen instead of one smile

Not a cheat but if you completed Resident Evil (PS2) in under 3 hours you got to replay it with a rocket launcher.

In Grand Theft Auto Vice City you could steal a tank and blow up other cars, trucks, police, army etc etc

In the original Dark Forces game (Star Wars spin-off thing that was a Doom 2 clone) you got your typical god mode and unlimited ammo, but LAPOSTAL (I think it was) you allow you to just walk up to a tall cliff or building and keep walking and >>boing<< you are on the top. Same for falling. That was quite fun.

IDSPISPOPD.

Goldeneye on the N64 was cool. The "cheats" on there were things like Paintball mode, Bighead mode, etc

If you type PANZER during the game (PC version) you get the tank without having to steal it.
