Has anyone else experienced any problems with their Xbox 360? How long did it take to be repaired and did you find out what caused the problem?
Disappointingly, it seems that after 2 months of light gaming my XBox 360 has begun to freeze at random, yet frequent occasions. Before purchasing the console I realised there were known problems with overheating and the 3 red lights of death, but thought it was worth the risk anyway! The freezing itself has now become more apparent, with the console hanging after 2 minutes ... Lots of rectangular shapes appear on the screen and loud scratching noises can be heard through the speakers.
I'm guessing there is a problem with the processor or memory on the graphics card - It certainly isn't overheating - However from searching the web, the freezing seems to be a common problem as well!
So another 14 or so days wait now ... and CoD4, Assassin's Creed and Ace Combat have just come out! Grrr

have this on my core console m8 its very frustrating to say the least
however there is a newer type of console on the market codenamed 'Falcon' its the newer 65nm chips which require less voltage hence less heat output. These are being tipped as the more reliable xbox's and they can be identified by the wattage requirements printed on the label on the box
the newer ones run 175w psu's the older ones run 203w psu's
i managed to get one from gamestation as my core whilst still works is bound to give up the ghost soon however its a handy media extender for the living room
enables me to stream movies etc from my network

Contacted XBOX and they said they would email within one week with address labels and the details of a courier company to contact - waited - no labels showed up.. Contacted helpline again and am still waiting for the address labels to arrive via post. I am totally hacked off with the whole thing and am seriously considering buying a PS3.
I have no idea where the helpline is based but their English is appalling...

I must admit even though I had a ps1, I was an avid fan of the xbox, had one and loved it, so when the 360 came out I thought as soon as I have some free cash I shall be having one, but when the time came the reliability issues did scare me off, I know come Jan all the 360's on the market will be the newer version, but the ps3 is out and working now.
I got the ps3 and it is brilliant, I'm still a little sad as I prefer the xbox ethos of gaming, but I haven't looked back, when they get some proper game support it will be even better.
