Connecting Broadband to your PC and Xbox - How?

Guys

I've got Broadband connected to my PC at the moment. I'm getting an Xbox 360 tonight and I'd really like to connect it up so I can get fragged in Gears of War (by you lot!!)

Is there some way that I can connect both PC and Xbox up to Broadband at the same time or will I have to take the lead out of the PC and connect up the Xbox each time I want to use the Xbox online?

Depends on what you have to connect up your PC to the broadband, if it's a USB modem then you can run a network cable from your PC to the XBox and share the connection like that, if it's a router then you can run a cable directly from that to the XBox.

We've got cable Broadband so I'm guessing it's going to have to be a network cable out of the PC to the Xbox.

I'm at work at the mo' but from memory there doesn't seem to be any spare lines out of the broadband box attached to our living room wall.

Does that make things clearer at all Steve?

That's a bit trickier, if your PC is connected via the network cable to the broadband box then you may need to get a router installed between the Broadband box and the PC/Xbox, this will split the signal between the two devices and should work straight off, without any additional setup.

Routers shouldn't be expensive no, before you do, might just be worth a check on the broadband box to make sure there are no spare sockets to plug an additional cable into.

A simple network switch should do the job. In the mean time you could just plug the pc out and use it for the xbox360.
