I am contemplating purchasing a PS3, as my Dad and brother both have them, and swapping games makes sense over a 360, however, someone told me that the games wouldn't work on my CRT TV? And i'd need a HD TV

Please tell me they're wrong.

I'll be getting an HD TV, but not straight away, as I have to get rid of my fireplace, which in turn will require plastering and a new carpet, so for the time being will it work?

Cheers

My mate has a PS3 running through a non-HD LCD TV.

Definitely doesn't need to be HD.

Yeah they are talking rubbish. Obviously you wont be able to use the HDMI lead but it has the same component lead which is in the ps2..

Edited for accuracy, Component and Composite are quite different cables.

It does work just fine, but it's well worth getting hold of a component cable if your normal TV accepts it, as I found with my PS3. It allows it to run up to 576p with a suitable progressive scan CRT and that looks plenty good enough to me!
