Hi guys

Hi guys

My nephew is currently after a Nintendo Wii, but it is very difficult to get one in the UK.

My girlfriend is still out in Hong Kong and will be coming back for Christmas, so I was wondering:

- Will the Hong Kong version work in the UK (i.e. is Hong Kong NTSC or PAL); and

- Will UK games work on it?

Many thanks for your replies as my nephew will be well chuffed (as will I - the tennis game rocks )

I have found out that the Hong Kong Wiis will work in the UK, but UK games will not work on them.

No and No.

Hong Kong is NTSC and the Wii is region locked so you'd need to buy the games from Hong Kong too, it's all do-able easily enough, you could get it to work here easily enough too, but just don't expect to walk into Tesco the next time you want a game.

HK is PAL, there are no such things as HK-region Wii's though, they will be US or Jap models. You can get them chipped (if buying from hk, locally) so they will play imports.
