2 week old xbox dead already ?

Approx 2 weeks old and only played for about 10 hours total.

Go to fire it up tonight....

3 red rings, flashing.

Is it fubar ?

was it new in the first instance or second hand?

If new then you should be able to swap it over the counter at the point of purchase. If second hand then again, go to the point of purchase and explain the situation and you should be able to swap like-for-like.

MS now provide a 3yr warranty on all xbox units from date of purchase

Just something worth noting, make sure you place the power supply somewhere well ventilated and not under a bunch of wires or somewhere very warm as that generates a fair bit of heat and has it's own fan, if that overheats I believe it can cause the RROD too.

Mine lasted less than a minute. Bought a few months ago yet the date on the back was august 2006! I would say they are selling recons as new.

I had just tucked the power unit down the back.

Pulled it out in the open, slagged Bill Gates to hell and back, threatened it with a pS3.....


....Ding ! Now all working.

Does worry me though, these things seem *very* marginal at best.
Built too much to a price I suppose.

Yep - my dad sent back his after trying to do the Halo update on the day it came out. He also had the red ring of death (that sounds wrong lol). I lent him mine and he gave me the free gold subscription they sent back with a new xbox. Cashback!
