Played a 360 for the first time the other day (assasins creed) at it was amazing, then I saw all the Forza 2 pics on here and have decided I must have one despite my gf's protests!

I can't really afford to be paying 250+ for one of these, but keep seeing them go second hand for 180-250 with a couple of games on ebay. I've seen a lot about them having issues with overheating and stuff so just a bit concerned that if I buy a year old console and it overheats in a couple of weeks time i'll be stuffed! Is this the case? Are the new ones just as prone to the probs? Or does anyone know of any amazing deals in the shop or net?

Thanks in advance and lookfowards to hopefully getting thrashed by some of you on Forza 2 some point soon!

I saw PC world were doing 2 wireless controllers, 3 games (forza, virtua fighter and viva pinata) for 269.99, so a little over budget but a brand spanker.

I brought my xbox second hand through ebay and it went wrong, but was still within the first year of them coming out so go it sorted no probs, do think the warranty has been extended to 3 years now though so you'll prob going to get protection for a certain amount of time.

If you can get one of the newer ones with the 175w power supply you *should* be far less likely to have any probs, although saying that my 2nd xbox (which is the older type) has been going strong since I got it

3yr warranty is only for the 3 red lights.

My laser went in the DVD player, and it was iirc about £50 for MS to uplift it, examine it, and replace it. With a new 12month warranty and a refund of my month XBL Gold.

If buying used make sure its not been banned from xbox live, a lot of hacked ones have been.

Apart from the bwe last 4-5months ones - mostly with HDMI) they all can have RROD issues, just hope its in warrenty.

the problem with second hand ones is that the consols Serial code could be banned from Xbox LIVE.

Thanks for everyones advice, just finished my last exam for a few months so popped into town and took the plunge. Best deal I could find in liverpool city centre was in Woolworths! xbox 360 premium, Forza 2, Viva pinta, Fifa 08, Halo 3 and an extra wireless controll for 283.99. Bit more than I wanted to pay, but after seeing the pics of forza I cant wait till next week for one to be delivered! Hopefully i'll have xbox live up and running at some point over the weekend!

Or.....

Wrap it in a damp towel, turn it on and leave it on till the insides melt, red lights will appear, call Microsoft and get a replacement under your 3 year warranty.

Bang, instant £50 saving smile
