I had the ring of death a few weeks ago..I put my hand behind the console and pushed the power cable in and jiggled it a bit..turned the xbox off, back on and presto...running as normal.
I didnt think it would be suffering with the ring of death so soon, its only about 7 months old and has the intercooler upgrade to keep it cool.

UPS just collected my dead 360 from me here at work
hopefully wont be gone too long!! 2-4 weeks is what MS support said
That's a bloody long time. Sony return their laptops within 5 working days, sometimes 2 if you ask them nicely.

That's with a problem that isn't an absolute known problem, for example: doesn't power on. Could be power button, power board, connector, etc. TRLOD is always going to be the same thing.

Mine just died
RROD. Didn't try jiggling cables as it hadn't been touched since last use, but may try that later. Have already registered it as kaputt though so it should be winging its way back to MS soon. It may be wishful thinking but i'm hoping they might send me one with an HDMI port as mine doesn't have one
