Hehe, tyre sounds are awlful, best tyre sound i heard recently is probably the F1 1989 i think from Carrera 4 on GTR2, nice sound, and a bloody good mod.Skreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeech
I like the way in Froza as you upgrade your car the sound changes ever so slightly until you put a race pipe on it and it parps away. Forza is out in front of everything in terms of engine sound at them moment but hopefully that will change with the next evolution of PC Sims.

I'm sorry but the sounds in PGR4 are at least 10 times better than Forza. Almost all the cars sound very distinctive to their real life counter parts. Something that can't be said for Forza. The one thing that gets me is the TVR engine sounds. I've never heard a game that has reproduced them accurately, they sound crap in Forza, but in PGR they are significantly better.

Seriously, PGR4 and rFactor have the best sounds\pops\fire as it stands at the moment.
Forza 2 is cool in that it changes as you upgrade components but they only seemed to record about 10-20 cars MAX out of (silly high number anyway) 300+. Certainly not asking them to record that many as it would take forever to release a game.
A recording someone has put on youtube of the F1 car in prologue.

And an F430... SCREEEEEEEECH indeed...

That 430 sounds absolutely pathetic. It really does. Try to ignore the music but here is the 430 in PGR4 for comparison: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iR2gcq1G5iQ
The difference being that the car in PGR actually sounds quite similar to the car in real life.
I don't know what they used for the sound in GT5, but it is pants.

i gotta agree with bert, pgr is much better than forza for sounds. forza is only a little better than the gran turismo's of old imo. If you want really good engine noises you have to play need for speed series
NFS seems to have had the most effort spent on sound. The GT cars have always lacked the oomph and soul that make some cars so special.Take the zondaF or Lambo Murci in the recent NeedforSpeeds, even on a fairly low volume it sounds like a demented beast the way the v12 shrieks, and as such you actually fear the engine and its potential. Fire up the Zonda in GT4 it seems barely different from all the jap 4cylinders.
In GT I perceive a quite limited range of sounds produced by the engines, perhaps over compression to save space on the disc, but it just means all the cars seem lifeless and uniform, more like hair driers than machines of aural pleasure.
car sounds, yes, s
te. anyone notice in GT4 that the rear engined RUF's had NO engine noise from inside the car or the front. no noise, just wind and road noise.
as for tyre screeching, i think that might be down to selected tyres. using N tyres will produce schreeching alot, S less so, and R should be quiet ish.
an example for you- http://videos.streetfire.net/video/c56dec1c-6662-4...
listen to the tyre noises.
