So, my sense looking at that is centre-pivot physics (guess) will render this unplayable. Jeeze, the wheelspin off the line reminds me of TOCA on the PS1 and the the dead cardboard box on wheels look of the car movement in the corners doesn't inspire.

Don't dismiss it out of hand - give it a go when the demo arrives on the XBOX Live Marketplace.
I'm a simulation fan (loving the likes of Nascar 2003, GPL, LFS etc) and while not all of the GRID racing styles will be to your taste, there is something in there for everyone. I challenge you not to enjoy the drift battle night races

Race Driver 3 (the predecessor to GRID) was one of the best console race sims there was, a nice balance of playability and realism, with the option of ultra-realistic handling should you desire it.
GRID has thrown that all out the window, no DTM, no V8 Supercars, no BTCC, no car setup, no pitstops, arcadey handling and drift racing. The market is saturated with the likes of NFS, PGR, Burnout etc, and while I like the GT series it has more of an emphasis on road cars, while RD3 was purely about racing cars. Because of that GT4 and RD3 complemented each other very well.
Rumour has it that Codemasters will create a new IP as a proper sequel to Race Driver 3. Lets hope they do.

Is it coming out on PC?
Can't stand simulations on consoles, hence dropping £150 on the G25 for me PC!
Yep it's out on PC too, and is starting to look pretty (especially on dual/quad systems which benefit from the architecture designed to get the most from the next-gen consoles). Should be a simultaneous release if things go to plan.

It'll be a shame if it's nothing like RD3 as that was good fun, although I wished it had H-pattern manual support for the G25, which AFAIR RD2 had?
