CoD 4 'Prestige'... whats that all about?

As the title says, whats it all about - just starting again with cack all weapons??

You get a nice little badge everytime you prestige up. Serious addicts need apply, everyone else should be perfectly happy with all the guns.

I'm perfectly happy with my 5 stars and Level 55 - don't see the point in Prestige, there are 1000's higher ranked than me, it doesn't prove anything.

But is it though? It takes longer to amass the points to advance as your rank increases, but you can eventually get there just be playing enough games.

Even the most average player could accomplish it if they had enough spare time to devote to it.

Me, I'm average AND have to work for a living, so I'm destined never to get past around rank 30!

You can prestige 10 times throughout the game, each time losing the weapons and perks you have achieved, as well as your overall rank being reset to 1. I cannot see the point, unless you are really dedicated and have lots of spare time on your hands ... I'm sure I heard somewhere that it takes about 30 days of actual playing time to reach rank 55 on prestige 10!

It just highlights who's played it the most really. I'm 2/3 through level 4 ranking and will rank up again & again as I like the challenge of compelting it all again. once I'm at gold in the distant future I'll worry about getting all the chellenges with weapons etc. GTA IV looms so will be busy elsewhere. Once you've prestiged up it doesn't take long to get all your weapons back.

I'd still think a rank 10 prestiger was a jessie if he didn't have the mile high achievement.

I can see the point of doing prestige once so that you can see how you fare with experience but poor weapons/perks. I fancy the experience is more valuable than the weapons/perks.

when I got to 55 I was bored with nothing to aim for

I am now on level 45 P1 and am looking forward to going at it again

I'm not exactly a fast mover, I have had the game before christmas

And have done around 2 days and a few hours

I'm similar to Scott. Level 45 P1. Not going to bother going through it again though, going to concentrate on completing all the challenges and get the (tacky) gold weapons etc.

Complete all the challenges for that class of weapon (sub machine gun, light machine gun, assault rifle, shotgun, etc). You will get one golden weapon for that class.

The desert eagle is given when reaching rank 55 if i remember.

That literally will take years. fking hell, getting all those head shots on EACH weapon
