X360 freezing, but no red light?

My 360 keeps freezing within 5 minutes of turning on but no red lights appear, its just over 2 years old now.

Anyone had this problem?

If i bought a new base model and switched the harddrive I assume all my gamer scores/points would still be their with no loss of any info/data?

Has anyone else had this issue, im assuming its going to die pretty soon, its pretty unplayable as it is, cant even complete 1 online race in Forza before it freezes

Make sure your disk is really clean and definitely make sure your xbox is on a hard surface with plenty of space around it and ideally a fan to keep the air flowing away from the back of it.
Also make sure your room is not hot and stuffy.
If you dont make sure you keep it cool then there is a much higher chance of you being one of the moany red ring club.

From what I have heard, if you swap the base unit and keep the hard drive, you game saves and profile will be ok but you may not be able to use any downloaded content as it is tied to the serial number of the xbox.

You can still use all of the DLC but you have to be online for it, so it can authenticate it to your gamer profile.

I just swopped my hard drive onto my new machine. No problem, everything was there.

you may be about to suffer some sort of failure

mine did this for about 2 months before the TV processing chip blew and cooked the motherboard and the disc drive

I'd get ready for a breakdown, or get it sent back to MS

This is exactly what mine was doing for the last few days and now it is RROD every time!!!! Bugger bugger bugger

Will they repair it under warrenty without any hassle?

Do you reckon, hypothetically speaking of course, that you could go and buy a new core unit from a shop, unpack it, put your knackered box back in the packaging, and take it back to the shop for a refund?

Yeah I thought so too. I wouldn't normally do something like that, but if my xbox comes back to me and it isn't repaired properly I'm going to be driven to drastic measures.

If it is under a year old, then yes. If it is over a year old, then they will not sort it for free unless you have the RROD.

How long do you get for them to fix it unter the RROD? I actualy wetn out and bought a new core system, only visual diff is having a white tray front opposed to a chrome one, but the biggest bug bear is that i downloaded extras for Forza and if im not connected to the internet then i cant even play the game under the same profile (and hence game saves) most frustrating

I think i might put the old one on and leave all week until it RROD then send it to microsoft for repair, its currently 2 years old, would it still qualify??

RROD all will qualify, as AFAIK they are all under the age limit.
