Why do you need the gamecube controller? I found it worked just fine with the Nunchuk and WiiMote personally, the wheel was a bit gimmicky and didn't give the control I needed.

I've taken to using it with just the wii remote - held horizontally but not clipped into the wheel.

The remote+nunchuck method is a bit gimmicky I think and doesnt work as well as my prefered method.

Gimmicky? The Remote and Nunchuk method is almost identical to the way you'd play any other racing game on Wii, or most other games that I'd care to mention, I fail to see what is a gimmick about it? It's also the closest you'll get to replicating a conventional (i.e. Gamecube) controller without buying any extra kit.

Turning the remote into a wheel (or your method which is all but identical sans-wheel) loses all the precision you get with the analogue stick and just seems to me to be a way that's easy to pickup for those who aren't used to gaming.

Nunchuck and Wiimote should be the way to go, but I like my golden wheel!! Still unlocking vehicles, hopefully I'll win more once I've got a good bike to go round on.. smile Started to use a bike more and learnt the tracks a bit more, although still getting taken out late on lap 3... frown

Battle games are good fun! smile

Bought this last week and gave it a go yesterday. Great fun although it's a bit confusing what you are actually supposed to do in some of the races. I bought an extra wheel thing so I could race with the missus. SO far, it's all good thumbup

Complete each Grand Prix for all the tracks. Complete them with Stars to unlock more characters and karts/bikes and beat the Nintendo Staff in the time trials to unlock more characters and karts.

I got the steering wheel for this, so only use the wii-mote. Doesn't feel as instant as i was hoping but still very fun (obviously this game is no Forza so who care's if the steering is a bit laggy).
