PS3 or Xbox 360..... Which is best

Hello to all,

Icurrently own a PS2 and have had 5/6 good years service from it. But i'm finally looking to upgrade to a PS3 or Xbox 360

Any opinions on which one is best.

Xbox360 has a better multiplayer experience - which is half the reason I buy games now. PS3 has the advantage of Bluray however.

I can't watch blu rays bcz i have not got a HD telly. Lol

I have to go for PS3 because most of my family on oe and they have such an advantage.The only good thing xbox have got is they online but PS3 are best for everything else.

PS3:graphics,bluray,controlers(built in batteries),Built in wifi,looks,card slots,able to play ps1 and 2 games,webcam if you get,sixaisis,free online

Xbox's down sides:£60 for the wifi adapter,you have to keep buying batteries for the controlers,it costs to play online,break every year,over heats every 40 mins,srews up your disks when over heats


Mate just get a PS3, its worth it.

For games the 360 is streets ahead.

Much better cross platform versions, much better and more exclusives. PS3 excusives seem to be 10/10 GOTY candidates, untill they turn up (see Haze...)

If your not intrested in Bluray then theres no reason to buy the PS3.

Save up for a HDTV first, or you might as well stick with your PS2.

If you only want to play games, then get the 360.

Nah used my 360 on a SD 32" for a bit and it looked great, still get a lot of the advantages of the new consoles.

Why does everybody try and say which is best? They are both fantastic machines with very good specs.

it really is 6 of one, half a dozen of the other. Have a look at what games you want and see which machine has those games.

OK, can only play ps1 & ps2 games if you get the 60gb version which is unavailable. Graphics are pretty much the same. XBOX can do webcam. Crap controllers

This from experience? wifi is built into elite model. online play is fantastic on xbox, you don't have to keep buying batteries for controller, can get a play & charge kit and keep playing, or use rechargeable batteries, or get a wired controller. Cost online is £40 per year. My 1st xbox did break but I had modified the console so couldn't send it back. Brought a new machine (latest chipset etc.) and completely reliable with no problems. Despite my old one RROD it never damaged any of my discs. they do damage discs when moved whilst turned on.

Yes the latest ones on the new chipset(falcon IFRC) are much more reliable. Easy way to check is make sure the console has a HDMI socket on the back.

Don't forget the PS3 is more expensive due to blu-ray. Play both, I preferred the XBOX as I like the online play & experience.

Football, both machines have Fifa and pro-evo soccer on. I think the 360 version runs slightly better. Racing games, you have Forza and PGR4 on XBOX, GT Prologue (Demo) HD on PS3. Forza is a more complete game than GT, GT will have the full version coming out late thie year / early next year.

Play both see which you prefer. See what console your mates have so you can play them online!

So did I until I played Dead Rising and realised I couldn't read any text (rather important text), GTA IV would also be difficult to play in SD as all the mission instructions are written in small text at the bottom of the screen.

I then bought a £400 cheapo 32" from Woolworths which does a great job.

I find the 360 much better for racing games for one reason:

The throttle and brakes that are on the triggers. Much more progressive and controllable.

I went through this over the weekend and came out with an Xbox. I barely looked at a PS3 much beyond a few comments on here, the price tag, what was available right now and cost of games.

I should say though that I'm hardly an avid gamer, I'll dig it out every so often if it's raining and cant be arsed to do anything else. Technically there's nothing wrong with the PS2 I had (have), but I couldnt find anything I wanted to play other than TOCA that was still available in the shops.

I'm told the PS3 is better in some respects, but wasnt really bothered about a Blu Ray player, or the latest great strategy game - havent got the patience for it. Manuals are for women and children, if I cant work it in 5 minutes it's not worth having

I got Smackdown vs RAW with the console, and after cracking everyone with The Undertaker I moved onto Forza 2, which is ace. Enough driving time that it's interesting, and still enough customisation that it's not too samey. Plus, I understand how to vaguely set a car up etc

As far as I know, the fundimental differences between the two machines are that the Sexbox has a much better graphics card so the appearence of games are better but the PS3 has a quicker processor so loading and general speed of games is better.

From experience on loading GTA4 it seems the xbox is quicker.
PGR4 and Forza are the best racing games at the moment imo- only on xbox.
online is by far better on xbox.
The initial set up of a PS3 takes ages for the downloads on line and from the set up disk.

the xbox WILL blow up at some pount.
The PS3 is very quiet
The PS3 has Gran Touriso.

I used to just have PS and was reluctant to change but since have the xbox and all the problems that come with it, i feel that i have made the best choice.

So whats the point in bragging about it then!! I suppose it just strengthens the 'buy an xbox' point some more.

If you could have an xbox with the ps3 reliability and quietness then there wouldn't be a contest.

Yeah i've worked with the ps3 cpu and many other asymetric multi processor systems, this is what i do for a living.
