I bought a Nintendo DS on a whim a couple of weeks ago and was looking for some game recommendations. Preferably some kind of strategy/ puzzle type games that can be put down and picked up easily.

Any suggestions? I've ordered a Cyclo DS as I have every SNES rom ever made and I hear there's a few SNES emulators for it.

Brain Training for the SuDoku on it, if that's your thing smile
There are several of those big puzzle games that are all bundled onto a cart.
Would agree on the above, even if I haven't played Zelda on the DS yet!! frown

Had mine for a year and still only got Mario Karthehe

As above, Zelda is supposed to be good but not sure about pick up and play? Brain Draining is a god time waster too...

Good call on Mario Kart. That's fantastic, but not quite in the 'puzzler' style of gaming!wink

It's just a normal game cartridge, available in Game et al.
I have one knocking around that has been used once if you're interested smile

I got Advanced Wars after hearing rave reviews, first version of the game I have ever owned.

To be honest not impressed, found it easy then all of a sudden it became impossible! Might try Civ and see if I like that. The DS should lend itself to puzzle/strategy but not quite found the perfect game for me yet....so sticking with Mario Karthehe

Can anyone suggest any game where a good deal of brain power is needed?

I have the brain academy and brain training games so any other suggestions welcome (no sudoku though can't do those things even if my life depended on it)

As I mentioned earlier - give Professor Layton a go. Lots of little puzzles - some easy, some rock hard. smile

Another Code - Two Memories is ace! thumbup
Really quite tough in places, difficult puzzles to solve. It's an adventure type game where you have to follow the clues on an island to find out what happened. Ace game and really takes some thinking for the puzzles! smile
Which aer all that much better because they use a lot of the functions of the DS, Mic, touch screen, instead of just the D-Pad! smile

I know it's out of stock (and I'm sure you can get it cheaper than that!), but this is the game-

Another great game, heavy on narrative and a some good logic puzzles, is "Hotel Dusk". Good atmospheric detective story with plenty of plot twists and characters in a narrative style similar to tv show "Lost" I felt.
Another game im enjoying on the DS is an RPG called "The World Ends With You", anyone else playing this?
