Any good space strategy games to recommend?

I have X3, but have no idea what I have to do, as there seems to be no apparent structure for learning the game. I simply do not have the huge amount of time needed to get into the game, as much as I’d like to.

Are there any good (preferably turned based) space games, on the same level as something like the TW series – what are Galactic Civilisations or Sins of the Solar Empire like? Are there any more (NOT MMOG)?

Homeworld and Homeworld 2.

The is a real-time Star Wars stratery game (and data disk) which came out about a year or two ago, which has some space combat in it.

May have to try Homeworld. I have today bought and downloaded Sins of a Solar Empire - haven't had chance to play it yet though...

I did buy the Star Wars game when it came out, but didn't like it that much

SOASE is enjoyable enough, but I'd make sure you speed it up a little otherwise these things take time.

WOW! What a great game SOASE is! I spent 6 hours without realising on one small campaign last night!

very impressed - I normally play games like Crysis, Bioshock, Rome TW and IL2 1946, and for this to hold my attention for so long is pretty amazing!

Highly recommended.
