Afternoon
We bought an 80gb ps3 on monday afternoon. I am pretty sure it was more or less silent.
My son has been playing gt5 a lot, I gave it a go this afternoon and noticed after a short while that it was making a lot of noise. Not just fan noise but more like a duff bearing somewhere.
I have run a fan test and it makes no difference.
John Lewis will replace it if I want but I wanted to know if this was normal?
So when you switch yours on what noises do you hear?
Many thanks

Mine very occasionally sounds like you describe. A faint little clonking like an ill balanced wheel.
Has been ok for the two months I've had it though.
Sounds about right. It gets louder over time, and becomes more obviously a drive; in another couple of months you'll be in the position I'm in, waiting for Sony to get off their collective fat behinds and send me the fecking shipping box so I can return it them to have the Bluray drive replaced.Has been ok for the two months I've had it though.
